Hritik's fans upset over Big B's selective appreciation

Mumbai: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who went ga-ga over Zoya Akhtar’s directorial debut `Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara`, has apparently upset lead actor Hrithik Roshan’s fans.

The veteran actor had tweeted, "ZNMD is a triumph of spirit and male bonding .. and Farhan and Abhay are just so impressive ... natural, composed and effortless."

The senior superstar was so impressed with the film that he forgot to add Hrithik Roshan’s name in his tweet. He had specifically mentioned Abhay Deol and Farhan Akhtar’s name and this offended Roshan’s fans.

The upset fan club of the `Guzaarish` star, compelled Big B to call up Hrithik and congratulate him for his performance in ZNMD.

Even lyricist Javed Akhtar, Farhan’s father tweeted, "Great that you liked Abhay & Farhan but I am sure that Hritik`s omission was just a slip. Who can deny that he was outstanding."

In order to pacify Hirthik’s angry fans, Big B in response to the bashing tweeted, "Hrithik Fan Club stop the bashing .. I congratulated him on phone personally .. want me to print his response also ??!!

I will not strip on TV for mere 2 crores: Poonam Pandey

Aspiring actress and model  Poonam Pandey loves to be in news, all the time. He came to limelight this year when she announced that if India won the cricket World Cup she would strip in joy. Although she disappointed millions in India as she went into hiding after India became the world champion. After that episode she hit the headlines when  her MMS clip started doing the rounds on the internet.
These days she is rumoured to be featuring in ‘Big Boss’ newest season. When quizzed about the being offered Rs. 2 crore to feature on 'Bigg Boss,’ the actress says, “2 crore is too less a sum to strip on national television. How can I say yes to that?” While on the other hand, sources from the 'Big Boss' house have confirmed that Poonam was never approached, rubbishing Poonam's claims.
But, she seems totally unaffected by the controversies that seem to be flooding the tinsel town and exclaims, “I think I was looking sexy in the MMS clip. I don’t think there's anything wrong in that, the way it's been portrayed by the media. My fans love me so, they shot me that way”.
But do her parents know about this? “Marwaogi kya. My parents are not even aware about this MMs scandal,” adds Poonam.

Yana goes gaga over her pantyless painting

Bollywood actress Yana Gupta, who was in news couple of months back for making a panty-less appearance at an event, has become a muse of sorts for artist Pranava Prakash.

The artist recently immortalised the sizzler on canvas, wearing the same black outfit that she was wearing during the fashion faux pas. The painting also has two children, who appear naked, sitting right next to Yana.
Apparently, instead of fuming with anger and slapping a lawsuit, Yana has taken the painting as a compliment, which was inspired by her panty-less misadventure.

Talking to a daily, Prakash said that his painting evokes the divide between ‘Bharat and India.’ When the painting was sent to Yana, she said, “It’s quite witty and original —definitely a good piece of art! I wouldn’t buy it though. It’s better than I expected!”

Yana not only wrote back to the painter but also congratulated him on the work. Explaining about his work of art, Prakash said, “Bharat, belongs to vast 32%, who cannot afford bare minimal clothing while there is a five star culture where the glitterati is preferring less cloth because of fashion.”

Model threatens to sue Big Bhatt for unauthorized usage of her pic

Even before the ongoing wave of celebrating Murder 2 in Bhatt camp could recede Mahesh Bhatt and his banner Vishesh Films courted a controversy. Model-actor Pinki Gaur is all set to sue him for using her photograph without her prior consent. Pinki, who has featured in shows like Dil Dosti Dance, Karam Apna Apna recalls being informed about her photograph being used in Murder 2.

"There's a scene, where an agent is talking about supplying prostitutes and showing pictures of a number of girls. One of the snaps he shows is mine, and he says that she's gone out on work," says Pinki, adding that she was astonished as she had never given any of her photographs to Vishesh Films.

However, through a friend who works with Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt's company, she learnt that they had obtained permission from a model coordinator who had given them her photographs.

Pinki avers that there should have been an agreement with her. "How can they use my photograph in their movie just like that?" she wonders, maintaining that, "There was no contract, nothing at all. Just using my photograph for a scene like that is not acceptable to me."

She further says that while it may not matter to the producers, her snap featuring in a scene where a character is showing photographs of prostitutes could affect her career.

Pinki concedes that her friend suggested she send the notice to Vishesh Films, which she's doing today. "If they don't reply, then I can file an FIR against them for using my photograph like this," asserts the model-actor.

While Mahesh Bhatt says, "If you've seen the film, you'll understand that it's not our intention to malign, demean or tarnish the image of the people whose photographs feature along with that of Yana Gupta, on whom the scene zeroes on."

He conceded that a trainee in charge of putting the props for the particular scene might have goofed up. "Instead of getting the images cleared by the department seniors, the trainee bungled up, maybe out of sheer oversight or lethargy," he admitted.

Bhatt further reasoned that going the legal way could in turn be a cause of hardship for the girl concerned, so he'd rather resolve the issue arbitrarily.

"If the lady wants a graceful apology from Vishesh Films, I've no problems with that," he stated, adding that nothing would come out from her going to court. "Because our courts are already burned with far more important cases. So it's best to resolve it arbitrarily."

Meet Akshat: The Guy Who Scripted 'Delhi Belly'

Akshat Verma had to wait 15 years for Delhi Belly to be made into a film. He wrote it in 1996, when he was 25, and doing a Masters in screen-writing at the UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles). “When I think about the time it has taken, it really depresses me,” admits Verma.

It all began in Karol Bagh

The writer and associate director of Delhi Belly, who now divides his time between LA and Mumbai, is a Delhi boy. Both his parents were professors in Delhi colleges — his dad taught English literature at Hansraj college, while his mom taught Hindi literature at Miranda House. He grew up near Karol Bagh, and went to Springdales school. He went to college at Kirori Mal, where he studied English literature.

Verma was always interested in telling stories, and in writing. So post-college, there followed stints in the writing professions —eight months as a journalist, two years as an advertising copywriter. Going by the evidence of Delhi Belly, where, of the four main characters, one is a copywriter and three are journalists, these early years ended up supplying plenty of material to the budding film writer.

After an inexplicable diploma in journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi, Verma took off to the US to hone his script-writing skills at the UCLA. “UCLA was the best thing that happened to me,” he says. Soon after he wrote Delhi Belly, he made a trip to Mumbai to try and sell his script, but there were no takers back then.

Going nowhere fast
So he went back to LA, where he flipped burgers, walked dogs, and did a series of writing jobs. He ghostwrote a screenplay, assisted established Hollywood names, and even took on a day job giving Hindi subtitles to Hollywood films. In case you’ve ever wondered, it was he who gave those terrible subtitles for Lawrence Of Arabia, Men In Black, and one of the Spiderman films.

But subtitling doesn’t pay well, and assisting someone wasn’t the same as working on your own script. And as the years passed, his screenwriting career was going nowhere fast. “You reach a point where you begin to question your own abilities, and you wonder if you are ever going to be able to get out of this,” says Verma, remembering those days. “Assisting someone else is also very depressing for me because I can barely run my own life, but to be responsible for somebody else…? You do a lot of work, but at the end of the day, what have you produced? Nothing.”

On Wiltshire Boulevard

Verma then tells me about the darkest point in his career as a writer, the day the absurdity of his life hit him on the head like a crashing ceiling fan.

“I was in LA, working as an assistant to this big-time Hollywood production designer. My work involved planning meetings, making hotel reservations, sorting out travel schedules, etc. In LA, there is this really busy street called Wiltshire Boulevard. One day I find myself transporting a large table across the street in the middle of traffic. It was a big table, and I had to carry it across because there was this birthday party and it had to be set up with cake and everything…..and right there in the middle of traffic, it suddenly struck me, wait, I have a f**king Masters in screenplay writing from a top American university, I am a qualified writer, I could teach other people to write badly…so what the f**k am I doing? At which point, I decided, you know, f**k it. I am going back to advertising.”

But to get back to advertising, you needed a portfolio, and Verma’s work was all Indian. American ad agencies would not consider his work on Indian brands. “So I had to go back to portfolio school — make up fake ads for known American brands so they can see the quality of my work.” Verma eventually did get a copywriting job in the US. But soon, “my luck being what it is,” disaster struck, in the form of the recession.

“I was working on a real estate client, and this was one of the biggest companies in the sub-prime lending sector. When that company went under, a large section of the creative department, myself included, was laid off.” This proved to be a blessing in disguise for Verma, as he could then turn his attention back to the Delhi Belly script. He teamed up with Jim Furgele, who was with him at the UCLA, and set up Ferocious Attack Cow Productions. They made another trip to India, and then slowly, with Aamir Khan on board, things started moving for Delhi Belly.

Slapstick versus physical humour
If there is one thing that upsets the affable Verma, it is when “lazy critics” dismiss Delhi Belly as slapstick or potty humour. “Delhi Belly is physical humour, not slapstick,” says Verma. “The two are different. Physical humour is played straight, unlike slapstick.

Let’s say someone slips on a banana peel. If he falls down and is hurt, or something else happens, it is physical humour. But if you have funny sounds and exaggerated expressions to go with it, it becomes slapstick. I mean, slapstick ends up caricaturing, whereas physical humour is completely straight. Laurel and Hardy is slapstick, but Buster Keaton is physical humour.”

Verma has a point. One reason why some critics didn’t get it could be because Delhi Belly is indeed a path-breaking film — it is difficult to think of another film after Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro that has multiple layers of humour working at the same time. Not only are there funny lines in almost every scene, the script is infused with situational humour as well as the humour of character. Plus it is an accomplished film by most cinematic parameters.

Most of all, what distinguishes Delhi Belly is a comic sensibility that you cannot pin down to any one aspect of the film but has to do with the quality of mind of the writer — say, the x-factor that makes a Woody Allen film a Woody Allen film. That is why Delhi Belly cannot be turned into a formula for other Bollywood copycats to replicate. And hopefully, that should mean less struggle, and more demand, for intelligent, funny screenwriters like Akshat Verma.

Spanish lesbian flick actress Ariadna Cabrol seduces Hrithik

Ariadna Cabrol, the super sexy hot actress of Spain who featured in lesbian flicks like ‘Les pelicules De Mi Padre’ and ‘Elios’ and gave frontal nude scenes, is all set to seduce our handsome hunk Hrithik Roshan in Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming flick ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’.

Director Zoya Akhtar, who was shooting the flick in Spain with Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol, decided to include Ariadna in the cast of the flick as the character fully suited her and also keeping with on going trend in bollywood of having one foreign beauty in the flick.

For example, Hrithik’s ‘Kites’ had Barbara Mori, Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Raajneeti’ had Sarah Thompson and now Zoya Akhtar’s film will have this Spanish hottie. The buzz doing the rounds in the industry is that Zoya wanted to give some exotic touch to her latest project, and hence, chose to include this Spanish actress despite of having Katrina Kaif in the lead.

Katrina Kaif is very excited about the flick especially because she is getting to work with the likes of Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar for the first time in her bollywood career.  On the other hand, Hrithik Roshan, too, has been pinning his hopes on this Zoya Akhtar’s flick after the bombing of much- hyped ‘Kites’ at the box office.

Hritik -Katrina Steal Hearts in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: Fans screamed with joy as Bollywood stars Hrithik Roshan , Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol belted out their hit song 'Senorita' on stage during a promotional event for their upcoming film on Sunday night.

The three performed amidst large number of fans as part of their promotional tour for their upcoming film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Hrithik, Abhay and Farhan created magic on stage as they broke into singing and dancing on their popular song "Senorita", originally sung by the three of them in the film. They were accompanied by Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin.
The entire cast of the film was on a six-city road trip in a black Range Rover and went through cities like Surat, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Udaipur, Jaipur and with final destination being Delhi.

The anxious fans waited for hours in Ambience mall, Gurgaon, to get a glimpse of their favourite stars whose arrival made the entire mall broke into loud cheers and hooting in their welcome.

Fans' excitement and joy rose as the three started singing the song "Senorita" followed by "Khabon Ke Parindey" from their film that releases Friday. Farhan started the song and later Hrithik and Abhay joined in. As the trio sung their respective parts, they were joined in by Katrina and Kalki, making the fans go loud, pepping them up with cheers.

The crowd's enthusiasm made Hrithik do his trade mark dancing steps. He bent down on his knees while dancing alongside Katrina and Kalki. He laid down on the floor while Kalki and Farhan jumped across him to land on other side. Abhay seemed a bit shy as he preferred to stay at the back, though he remained on stage throughout the show.

"I just can't get my eyes off Hrithik he is so hot and so handsome. He's an incredible dancer. He is just too good. Hrithik made my day today," said Neha, a student, an ardent Hrithik fan.

"Abhay is so cute," said another girl while watching them on stage with others.

On the other end, boys were cheering all the way for Katrina dressed in a short orange dress. The live performance made the audience demand for once more. The enthusiasm and craze risen so much that many of the fans were even seen following starcasts' cars as they left the venue at show's conclusion

ZNMD Road Journey: Aisi Trip Na Hogi Dobara

The team of 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' has hit the road as a part of their unique promotional strategy. Actors on board are enjoying the journey. This trip began on July 7 morning from Mumbai including the lead actors Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar, along with Zoya Akhtar, the director and Ritesh Sidhwani the producer.  ZNMD motorcade is expected to reach Delhi on Sunday.
This road journey is inspired by the story of the movie which is about three friends road journey . The first halt of their long road trip was Surat from there they headed straight to Baroda, where they had dinner with the royal family at the Baroda palace. Apparently, the cast is driving the car themselves turn by turn, and Katrina is behind the wheel most of the times. It has been reported in media that Katrina has donned the role of labourer and she does the cleaning of cars.
Interestingly, Katrina is travelling the lightest for the trip, she is carrying minimal baggage, in fact the boys have more bags than Kat. Abhay Deol is the DJ of the car and is carrying his all time favourite song's collection, which is being played in the car all the time. Farhan has surprised all by playing his guitar for his team occasionally. Hrithik was heard saying that he is super excited about the trip since it's his first road trip ever in India. The film is all about living each and every moment of life so the cast wanted to make the promotional trip too a unique experience. All the actors, including their crew members will drive through different cities.

Raj Thackeray goes ga-ga over `Delhi Belly`

Mumbai: It is one of those unbelievable news but it’s true! Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s head Raj Thackeray, who had asked Bollywood heavyweight Aamir Khan to organise a special screening of the Imran Khan starrer and “adult” rated `Delhi Belly`, is gung ho about the film.
The two biggies along with other friends walked into Ketnav theatre together.
Talking to a tabloid, a source revealed, "Raj found that many of his friends wanted to watch the film too. Hence he requested for a special screening. Aamir was too happy to oblige!"
"The actor however did not sit for the entire screening and decided to let Raj enjoy with his family and friends. They were cheering and clapping throughout the film!" added the source.
Reportedly, the perfectionist star had earlier arranged special screenings of his `Dhobi Ghat` and `Peepli Live` for Raj.

RGV denies making 'Buddhi Hogi Teri Maa' with Rekha?

Amitabh Bachchan recalls 'good old days' as audience laud Bbuddah... Hoga Terra Baap
Amitabh Bachchan’s starrer ‘Bbudaah Hoga Terra Baap,’ which released yesterday in theatres, might have a sequel to follow in the near future. And, none other than Ram Gopal Varma , has expressed his desire to direct the film titled ‘Buddhi Hogi Teri Maa’ featuring actress Rekha as a protagonist ‘Buddhi’.

RGV had declared to make the film, while he had introduced the director of ‘Bbudaah Hoga Terra Baap’, Puri Jagannath to Big B. But to everyone’s amazement RGV clearly denied this with a certain seriousness in his tone, while at an interaction with the media recently.

In fact, on being asked whether he would be keen on roping in Big B opposite Rekha, Varma said, “I don’t intend to make a film. So, the question of signing Big B with Rekha doesn’t arise only.”

“I said so on a lighter note so, kindly don’t take me seriously,” he added.

Well, we wish we could buy your words on that, for the tinsel town is full of surprises and one never knows you might change your mind and give it a shot. We'd be waiting,
