I enjoyed being a woman during 'Dirty Picture': Vidya Balan

She is at her boldest ever in ‘The Dirty Picture’, but actress Vidya Balan says she never felt a sense of discomfort shooting for the movie as she was in the ‘trusted hands’ of director Milan Luthria.

‘I have never enjoyed being a woman more than I did while shooting for ‘The Dirty Picture’. I wasn’t uncomfortable doing bold scenes because I knew I was in trusted hands,’ Vidya told reporters here Tuesday.

The actress, who reprises late southern siren Silk Smitha’s rise and fall as a glamourous star in the film, spoke at the theatrical launch of the film.

The movie also features Tusshar Kapoor, Emraan Hashmi and Naseeruddin Shah.

‘I have worked with Naseer before but this time it was easier…I was less nervous this time,’ said Vidya, who had teamed up with the veteran actor in ‘Ishqiya’.

On working with Bollywood’s serial kisser Emraan, with whom she has locked lips in the film, she said: ‘I was wondering how it would be with Emraan, but it was fun.’

The trailer promises viewers that Vidya would indeed be seen in a never-seen-before avatar in the film, which is set for release Dec 2.

When Ranbir Kapoor Invited Girlz to Watch Promo..

It was  a moment to remember for a bunch of beautiful girlz who were standing outside Bollywood Actor Ranbir Kapoor’s house  when they were not just invited by the star personally to his bungalow but were also allowed to watch the promo of his new film "Rock Star" along with him. 

The girls are in a swoon. And so, we might add, is Ranbir who got to watch his "Rock Star" promo for the first time in the company of the aam junta.

Seeing their reaction, he now feels the excitement and the heat of the film`s release.

Says a source: "Since he was in Kolkata shooting for `Barfee`, Ranbir had missed the first trailer of `Rock Star`. On Thursday morning director Imtiaz Ali finally sent the trailer over to Ranbir`s bungalow.

"As Ranbir sat down to watch the trailer, he got to know that a bunch of girls who had been regularly standing outside Krishna Raj (Ranbir`s home) for a glimpse of the star, even when he was in Kolkata, were at the gate again... Ranbir rushed out, hugged the stunned girl fans and invited them inside to watch the `Rock Star` trailer," the source said.

The girls, apparently, have sworn they won`t watch any other film before "Rock Star" releases.

Interestingly, Ranbir`s young fans, mostly of the fair sex, are known to stand outside his family bungalow at any given time. If he`s home, Ranbir invites them inside. Sometimes his dad Rishi Kapoor goes out and speaks to them.

"But to invite the girl fans inside the bungalow to watch the `Rock Star` trailer… that was a bit too much. Trust Ranbir to surprise even himself all the time," says the source.

James Bond Stopped In His Tracks By Indian Railways

The shooting of a new " James Bond" movie in India has been stalled after the production house couldn't get the permission to shoot.

The makers of the movie, tentatively titled " Bond 23", wanted to shoot high-speed stunts on the Indian Railways. However, they could not get the permissions due to safety issues and as a result director Sam Mendes is now looking for alternative locations.

"It has been one thing after another. The scenes are very ambitious and we're all just desperate to get started but there have been obstacles at every stage," mirror.co.uk quoted a production insider as saying.

India's railways minister Dinesh Trivedi has now decided to "look into the matter", but added: "I can't jeopardize the safety of passengers."

The shooting is likely to move to South Africa, where producers already have permission to shoot some scenes, but not until January.

DJ Jenny plays Anna against casting couch

We always knew that it was only a matter of time before showbiz's wannabe brigade jumped onto the Anna Hazare movement bandwagon. So, as long as Vidya Balan went around sporting an Anna topi, it was okay.

But now, Mumbai-based DJ Jenny Costa has struck a dare-bare pose with 'Me Anna Hazare' scrolled across her bare back.

Jenny hit the limelight when she released nude snapshots of herself with a Tricolour fabric covering her at strategic points. Her clamour then was for women's reservation in the education and employment sectors

"Has anyone ever wondered why there are so many female singers and musicians, but hardly any female music directors in the film industry? The reason is simple - the casting couch. I myself have been a victim. I know a lot of girls who give in because they have no other option. A lot of girls leave their homes and come to cities like Mumbai and Delhi in search of work in the film and fashion industry only to be first met by the wolves who ' kill' their will to survive," says Jenny.

When quizzed about the link between casting couch and Anna's anti- corruption crusade, she replies, "Anna Hazare is a hero to all Indians. He has dictated terms to a powerful and arrogant government and made the entire machinery bend before him and his supporters in a non- violent and peaceful way," she declares.

Explaining the concept behind her photo, shot by lensman Amarbir Singh, Jenny says: "The image is of a budding actress who has been molested by a sleazy producer. She finds inspiration in Anna Hazare and decides to fight for herself." Jenny's previous nude shot, released on Independence Day, had invited the ire of the BJP and Pramod Muthalik's Sri Ram Sene, with the latter threatening to blacken her face and ban her from playing in any disco or pub in their stronghold, Bangalore.

But the 'feminist' DJ is unfazed.

Jenny has envisaged a campaign on Facebook and appealed to female artists, singers and musicians and junior artists to come out and support her cause

Deepika regrets being open about her relationship

The adage once bitten twice shy sure seems to have taught actor Deepika Padukone a lesson. The actor who was very open about her relationship with actor Ranbir Kapoor, soon after she set her foot in filmdom, has now decided to lie low and keep her personal life out of the public eye. Though Deepika and Ranbir decided to be open about their relationship, there came a point when people only wanted to know what was happening in her personal life and that is when she decided to put a full stop.　

"I do feel that when you are in the industry, it is very difficult for two actors to be in a relationship. Insecurities, constant travelling, and hectic schedules — it gets very difficult to keep up with it. Also if the guy and girl are somewhere in the same level, competition also comes in. It's a very tricky territory," she says.　

While she is talking about the problems that come with being a celebrity, she also admits that talking about her relationship and putting it out there in the open was something she shouldn't have done.　

"I do agree that it was a mistake talking about my relationship in public. Today also because whatever you do is written about and publicised everywhere, whether it is a dinner or your flying out somewhere, everything is talked about. When Ranbir and I were seeing each other and there was so much buzz about the two of us being together that somewhere we said that let's just talk about it because there really was nothing to hide. But when we came out clean, so much was being written and said all the time, whether we went out, fought or didn't, his parents said something, my family did something, and a lot of it was created and that causes a lot of stress on a couple and their relationship and it is unnecessary," she adds.

Refusing to talk about her relationship status currently, Deepika says she'd choose a man with a personality over good looks. "Personality first for sure. There are so many men who I have seen and thought that they are so good looking, but when you go up to them and the minute they open their mouth it is like 'okay thank you, never mind. I shouldn't have spoken in the first place.' But it is really ones personality that stands out. And I am not even talking about intelligence here.

Kareena in London to Celebrate ‘Saifoo’ Bday

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are in London busy celebrating Saif’s 42^nd birthday. They reached London on August 16 for five days. Their romantic trip London has raised many eyebrows as they left Mumbai immediately after Kareena’s grand uncle Shammi Kapoor’s funeral.  They went far away from the Bollywood because they wanted to spend some time for each other in quality. This Kid Forced Sallu To Be His Ballu Bodyguard

This kid's innocent wish was that Salman should act like his bodyguard while he takes him on a bike ride, wherein the bike was actually a toy bike that runs on battery.

On the sets of 'Bodyguard', the actor granted a child's special request.

The kid waited for hours and ultimately managed to meet the star and expressed his wish.

Close sources from the sets revealed that the little kid learned that Salman was shooting for a film in the vicinity and thus came on his bike along with his parents to meet his favourite actor. This was not all, the child who hopped around the sets just wouldn't leave without meeting Salman and get his wish fulfilled.

The kid waited for patiently without giving up on hope. Salman was already shooting an action scene for Bodyguard and was absorbed in his character. Learning about the long wait by this young fan, he took a break after his shot and rushed to visit the kid.

Salman a.k.a Lovely Singh in Bodyguard, fell in love with the boy's innocence and determination to meet him. He immediately agreed to play his Bodyguard and take him on a ride despite of his busy shoot schedule.

Mumbai based DJ poses nude for ‘Aarakshan’ for women!

 DJ Jenny D, a Goa-born Mumbai based actress and DJ has posed nude for a NGO campaign- supporting reservation for women on the occasion of the country’s 65th Independence Day. 

The Mumbai- based NGO Citizen Action Forum has launched an awareness campaign on India’s Independence Day titled ‘Are Women in India really Independent?’

Bollywood and fashion photographer Vickky Idnaani shot a special poster and print shoot for the campaign.

The campaign focuses on creating more jobs for women in areas like judiciary, local-self government and allied areas.

As reported by a daily, DJ Jenny D said, "We demand more jobs for women particularly in villages and smaller towns. Jobs for women in important positions of government, judiciary, police, local self government and financial institutions will reduce corruption in India and crimes against women will come down drastically.

Women should have the freedom to choose their partner, choose the job or profession they want to or feel inclined to and even choose their dress code or the outfits they want to wear.”

“Women should be at par with men not just in the cities, but also in the smallest and remotest villages and small towns of India. On Independence Day after 64 years of independence, women are still raped every day in India. Teenage girls are forced into marriages that they are against," the outspoken DJ said.

When asked about the nude shoot, DJ Jenny D said, "The photograph is very artistically shot and is very aesthetic and glamorous. It is not vulgar at all."

After Pakistan Wasim Akram's girl ready to bowl over Indians

Pakistani model Humaima Mallick's debut film ‘Bol’ is now ready for release in India this month. Humaima was recently in news for her relationship with former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram. Akram has been very popular among Bollywood actresses ever since he associated with Shah Rukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders.

If sources are to be believed then he had a steamy affair with former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen. He started dating Humaima after she separated from her husband.

Humaima is a popular face in Pakistan and her movie ‘Bol’ was released there in June which generated a lot of interest among cine goers and cricket lovers.

Taking advantage of the recent buzz crated by her in India the producers have decided to release the movie here. Humaima is quite excited about this development and now looking forward to sign any Bollywood project. "I am currently looking at a Bollywood project, with which I will surprise my fans," she told .a Mumbai based tabloid recently.  

Bol is directed by Shoaib Mansoor, who earlier made the critically acclaimed Khuda Ke Liye, which starred Naseeruddin Shah and Pakistani actors Shaan and Iman Ali. Humaima has Pakistani singer Atif Aslam (Doorie, Tere Liye) as her co-star in Bol.

The 25 year old actress loves the attention she gets in India for dating a celebrity like Wasim Akram. She admits that her 20 year plus age difference with Akram  is seen as an aberration in India but back home in Pakistan it is something which doesn’t raise many eyebrows.

Saif Ali Khan slams ‘Aarakshan’ hecklers

Ace filmmaker Prakash Jha’s upcoming multi-starrer flick ‘Aarakshan’ is embroiled in a series of controversies, for it is based on the sensitive issue of caste based Indian society.

With Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpai, Deepika Padukone and Prateik playing central characters in the film, Jha as always has come up with an issue based film on reservation, which happens to be one of the detrimental factors with respect to the growth of the country.

Saif Ali Khan believes that the film must be allowed to be screened without any opposition.

Talking to a tabloid, chote nawab said, “These issues are inherent in India and someone has to speak about them.”

The actor has also condemned protests against the screening of the film.

“I don`t think what is happening is right. Once the Censor Board has passed a film, without any cuts and with a U/A certificate, the least one can do is allow the film to be released. Yes, the subject of the film and the title itself has kind of invited controversies, but since the Censor Board had no issues, I see no reason why there should be objections raised by others? We must respect their judgment,” said Saif.

When 'Sheila' Became 'Jawaan'!

Katrina decided to celebrate the Independence Day month with the Indian army. She spent three days with them. She rode the bike, played the guitar and fired few rounds from AK-56.

The programme undertaken by the actress for a television show saw her doing some major army tricks along with the jawaans in the Forward Post along the Line of Control in the Jhangar area of Nowshere sector in the Rajouri district.

On her first visit to the district of Rajouri, Katrina arrived by road from Jammu to the army mess in Rajouri where she had been put up for the duration of her stay at the camp.

Kick-starting the event, Katrina planted saplings in the compound. And though civilians were not allowed to enter the area, top army officials from the Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur, attended the event.

She followed it up with a firing session, rope climbing and river crossing exercise with the army officials in the range. The girl who has undergone an image makeover with her recent films, went a step further and learnt shooting with the jawaans. And she did not stop there. Katrina also learnt the nuances of climbing roofs and crossing a river the way it's done at the border along with the men. And while she was learning the ways of the men in uniform, civilians flocked around the area trying to catch a glimpse of the pretty actress sporting army greens.

In fact, the jawaans were overjoyed when their Sheila joined them for lunch at the camp and interacted with them.

Bollywood’s lesser known actresses have discovered a new way to hog the lime light and that is going commando and letting the shutterbugs freeze the moment for eternity.  After Sonali Bendre, Shamita Shetty and Yana Gupta , ‘Çhu Mui Girl’ Preeti Jhangiani chose this path to catch some media attention.

Preeti  is producing her  husband’s  Pravin Dabas’ directorial venture, ‘Sahi Dhande, Galat Bande’ and while attending a promotion of the movie in Delhi she  decided to go commando. A similar incident had occurred with starlet and item dance number specialist Yana Gupta who was spotted panty less at an event. Not only did it raise eyebrows but also got Yana two minutes of fame. The incident also took place right before her TV stint, which generated enough curiosity.

Shamita Shetty was infact the first of such celebrities to be snapped in a compromising pose. While Shamita decided to keep mum about the entire matter, Yana sportingly called herself the ‘no-panty girl’ on a social networking site. Soon after, actresses Neetu Chandra and Sonali Bendre were caught in the same situation. And when a cheeky lenseman informed Sonali about her faux pas, she promptly replied, "I`m happy that you saw it all". So all the starlets and ‘have-beens’ please take a note; going commando on public events where there are ample opportunities to be clicked is the easiest and simplest way to garner fame.

'Desi Girl' bags Ángrezi' music album deal

Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra who was recently in the UK shooting for Kunal Kohli’s film with Shahid Kapoor, flew off to Los Angeles to record her first pop music album. The 29-year-old, who won the Miss World crown for India in 2000, has signed a recording deal with music company Universal Music Group (UMG) and Desi Hits! -- a fusion entertainment platform. She will be writing and singing the songs in English. Work on her album has already begun, and she is mighty excited about it.

This morning Piggy Chops  tweeted, “OMG OMG…it’s finally happened. Big day for me guys… going nuts!! Just signed a recording deal to release my debut International music album.”

The album will be in English and the agent who handles international pop diva Lady Gaga’s work is also managing Priyanka Chopra’s music career across the globe. For the uninitiated, Piggy Chops is a trained Western Classical singer and, people close to her know that she is a fab crooner. We wonder why no filmmaker in Bollywood ever got her to sing for one of her films. Priyanka is excited about exploring a new facet of her life.

Sonam brings the curtains down on Jewellery Week

Actress Sonam Kapoor Thursday closed the second season of the four day jewellery extravaganza - the India International Fashion Week (IIJW), walking the ramp showcasing an exclusive piece of international brand, Boucheron of Paris.

The IIJW paid tribute to Boucheron by making it the closing show of the event.

Dressed in a red gown with floral imprint of the same colour, Sonam sported Paris-based designer`s "Queen of Night" collection which includes a neckpiece, which looks like a collection of floral branches, meticulously designed with rubies, diamonds and sapphires.

"The whole point of the look is very wild and other worldly. It reminds me of the Shakespeare`s description of Elizabethan age and their jewelleries. This one piece enhances your beauty. There is a special mechanism which makes the flowers open and close," Sonam told reporters after the grand finale of the show here.

The final show started with `Dabangg` actor Sonu Sood taking the ramp showcasing some heavy gold beaded jewellery of PC Jewelleries. He was followed by other models showcasing the glittering range of the brand.

Model-turned actor Lara Dutta was one of the star attractions of the evening, walking the ramp in a white dress and adorned with a big diamond necklace and earrings.

Being three months pregnant, the initial bulge of her stomach was quite visible.

Asked if she was nervous walking the ramp at this condition, she said: "No, not at all. Modelling is my second nature."

Her husband, tennis player Mahesh Bhpati had come to watch the show.

To make the show more engrossing, it was coupled with some dance sequences in-between the ramp walks.

The show also ran a retrospect of the best of collection of all the jewellery houses that participated in the jewellery week. Models exhibited the chosen collections of each of the brands on the ramp.

Mahi Finds Hooda Better Kisser Than Dobriyal, Is Hashmi Listening ?

Mahi Gill is grabbing a lot of attention for the two kisses and lovemaking scenes she has shot with different male co-stars.

The kudi from Punjab has locked lips with Randeep Hooda in Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster and with Deepak Dobriyal in Not A Love Story. She says kissing Hooda was better than kissing Dobriyal and her assessment is not based on who looks hotter on screen and real life but simply on her comfort level with the co-star.

Mahi admits she was a bundle of nerves while filming the kissing scene with Dobriyal because it was shot on the very first day of the shoot of Not A Love Story.

On the other hand, her kiss with Randeep Hooda was filmed at the end of the shoot of Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster. Mahi says by then she and Randeep had become very comfortable with each other and therefore locking lips with him wasn’t awkward.

However, Mahi is quick to add that it would be wrong to make these kisses and lovemaking scenes the selling points of the films.

Mayawati says No 'Aarakshan' in UP

Lucknow: The Mayawati government on Wednesday withdrew permission granted for a grand show to promote Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'Aarakshan' for which the Bollywood icon and his co stars Deepika Padukone, Manoj Bajpai and Prateik Babbar were arriving to Lucknow.

'Apprehension of breach of peace' was described as the official reason for the sudden 'u' turn by the state administration, which had earlier formally granted the necessary permission for the event, planned almost a month ago.

"Well, we were constrained to cancel the permission for the programme following intelligence reports about the possibility of street protests that could have threatened peace and tranquility in the state capital," Lucknow additional district magistrate Ram Singhasan Prem told mediapersons on Wednesday evening.

'Apprehension of breach of peace' was the official reason for the sudden decision.

Aaai La! Aamir & Sharman to play Munna-Circuit!!

According to the grapevine, Aamir Khan and Sharman Joshi may replace Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi as Munna Bhai and Circuit respectively, in the next edition of Rajkumar Hirani's Munna Bhai franchise.

An industry source reveals, "The idea of casting Aamir and Sharman came up during the shoot of 3 Idiots.

Hirani felt that a new pair would bring in a fresh breath of air into the film. Aamir and Sharman have amazing comic timing and also great chemistry onscreen. You can see that even in their first film together, Rang De Basanti.

Buzz is the actor has been approached to replace Sanjay Dutt in the cult franchise.

When he shared the idea with Aamir, he loved it. He told Rajkumar that he would be game for it if the script was interesting."

Another source says, "Though Sanjay played Munna Bhai to perfection, having Aamir on board will take the franchise to the next level. He is not only a fine actor, but also a much bigger brand name, and a marketing genius."

A source closely working with the franchise informs, "A few months ago, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani had a closed door meeting with Sanju, where they told him that they would not be going ahead with him in the Munna Bhai sequel.

This definitely upset Sanju." It may be noted that Chopra and Hirani were conspicuous by their absence at Sanjay and Maanyata's party, recently. When contacted, Hirani denied these claims.

Alisha tells Vishal-Shekhar to f**k Off

Composers Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani got a mouthful from singer Alisha Chinai when they offered her a sizzling number with the habitual bait, "Only you can do justice to it."

When she heard the price being offered for the song, Alisha apparently told Vishal to f**k off! Of course, the composing whiz kids did exactly that. They recorded the song with Sunidhi Chauhan.

Alisha doesn't deny the incident. "Yes, Vishal-Shekhar did offer me a number very recently. I asked them what they're paying. When I heard the sum, I almost laughed out loud. Really, how long are we playback singers going to be treated so shabbily? I've had just about enough. I've no songs on hand at the moment, but I'd rather be without work than without my self-respect. So yeah, I told Vishal-Shekhar very clearly that I'm not interested in their song or the fame. I told them to tell their producers to pay me what I deserve or f**k off."

In spite of smash-hit numbers like Kajra re, Tinka tinka, It's rocking and Tera hone lagaa hai, the singer has all but said goodbye to playback singing. "I won't sell myself out for a pittance. If you can't pay me what I deserve, then f**k you. I guess I will become a producer and then exploit the hell out of everyone."

When asked about the incident, Vishal said, "I feel really bad saying this, but the poor lady is delusional and needs help. I mean this with all sincerity. God bless her."

Kareena to flaunt her assets the `Mandakini` way!

Producer Ekta Kapoor, who is all set to make the sequel of her film `Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai` a bigger block buster is hell bent to recreate reality on the silver screen in the closest possible way!

With Akshay Kumar playing Dawood Ibrahim in the film and Kareena Kapoor essaying the role of his ladylove, Ekta and her director Milan Luthria are geared up to make one of the finest biopic of all times.

It is believed that Dawood fell in love with actress Mandakini of the `Ram Teri Ganga Maili` fame after seeing her in the waterfall-bathing scene in the film repeatedly. This is where the light eyed starlet of the 1980s had flaunted her assets with just a white saree, reasonably covering her modesty.

And ironically Bebo, who will play Mandakini in QUATIM sequel has agreed to do the sizzling scene which was originally directed by her grandfather, the late Raj Kapoor.

The Kapoor girl had little inhibitions on agreeing to do this scene on learning that the script demanded it. Moreover, she has complete faith in filmmaker Luthria for she knows he will shoot it aesthetically.

Talking to a daily, a source said, "Bebo is not averse to the idea of doing the water scene, as long as it is aesthetically shot. She knows Milan`s sensibilities are very good."

Hmm…that’s a very bold move! But Kareena had refrained from doing “liplock” scenes with her other co-stars barring beau Saif Ali Khan. But now that she is all set to do a `Mandakini` act…wonder how Saifu is going to react!
