Whoever said buxom beauties could not
model lingerie brands can mince their words now. Rumour has it that Vidya Balan
may be approached by leading international lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret to
become their brand ambassador in India.
Victoria’s Secret played the famous ‘Ooh
la la’ song from Vidya’s forthcoming film, ‘The Dirty Picture’ during an
international ramp show. The show was later shown on a fashion based channel.
A source close to Vidya said, “They’ve
discovered that Indian women don’t fit into the international bracket when it comes
to lingerie sizes. So, when they were thinking about a campaign specially aimed
for Indian women who are generously endowed, Vidya’s name came to the fore. Of
course, there’s a shock value too, when you have an A-list actor’s associated
with a lingerie brand.”
“The campaign is at an ideating stage,
and needs to go through various stages of approvals, before hitting the public
space domain. It also includes getting an approval from the actor herself. But
yes, there is a chance she might become the first model for the line that is
aimed exclusively at Indian women, who are of bigger built than an average
model,” added the source.
When the producers of the film were
asked about the recent developments, they admitted that they were aware of the
news. “We are aware of the lingerie brand using the music from our film for
their fashion show. Yes, they have been showing a sudden interest. However, we
can’t comment any further,” said Tanuj Garg, CEO, Balaji Telefilms.
